I'm sure I'm not the only one with this problem...
Tonight was one of the rare free nights I have during the week. I took a break from family and traveled down to the dark gloomy basement to play some Gang Garrison, seeing as how I haven't played in a while. I download the latest version of Vindi's mod, along with a few plugins (I like playing against people with penises on their heads). I started up my client and took a look at the servers. There were 5, something I was surprised at seeing as how there used to only be 2 or 3 servers alive at best in the old days. I try Normal Grav. i get the "Invalid download data" error and my client crashes. I start it up again and try 3 more times out of vain stubborness, with the same end result. The 4th start-up, I try Raptor Llama's 24/7. Dustbowl loads up, and my client is suddenly struck with massive lag. It totally freezes as the class menu pulls down, and I have to end the process using task manager. Now I'm kinda pissed. This time I click on Travirider's West Coast. As soon as the map loaded, it crashed for some reason and sent me back to the main menu, without an error message. WTF. I try Baffling's Server. this turns out to be the best one, although I have gigantic lag and it periodically freezes for about 5 seconds or more, rendering it unplayable. As a last resort, I click on the last server: 2Fort/Dustbowl. The map loads, and my client magically disappears without an error message.
What am I doing wrong? What the fuck is wrong with my Gang Garrison? I want to play.

well, you're doing ONE thing right... but yeah i suggest restarting your computer and unplugging your modem + router for about 5 minutes and if it still doesn't work try a pingtest and see if that's the problem. if not, buy a new computer.

Bolded key points. By using vindi's you are garunteed I can't spell a shitfest of lag. Tavi's is the worst place to go to if everything else lags. Norm is starting to lag. Disregard that, I suck cocks.

Hint: Vindi don't show error messages, it closes them itself.

Thanks, I'll try that. Is there any way to fix the 'invalid download data, exiting" error? It seems to happen when the client tries to download custom maps...I'll do the restarting the router thing but I thought the custom map bug got fixed like 2 updates ago... EDIT: I forgot to mention, I also tried Vanilla GG2, and got the exact same problem. Setting the process to a higher priority in task manager only seemed to make it worse.

invalid download data? unless you mean incompatible Server Protocal, then it's the map that's the issue (don't quite remember when that shows up)

It happens all the time whenever Normal Grav hosts custom maps and I try to join. It just happened again 30 seconds ago. It's not just one custom map, either.
