So I'm summarizing all ideas said here. - A cloak timer - The Dead Ringer - Sentry disabler (let's call this a Sabotor to prevent further confusing with Sappers) - Sappers .. I proabably forgot the rest. Yea, sentry disablers or throwable sappers (like in Meet the Spy ) *could* work :|

I would just want something wich gives the spy the chance of getting away after a successful stab, like invincibility (mentioned before I think.) The spy wouldn't be able to stab or shoot but stays invisible, it just gives him the chance to get away. Sappers would also be nice.

I say your cloak is frozen for that moment
Also L, a CnD system would slow down already inefficient spies imo
Well if they prefer to stay cloaked they will be slower but the CnD method doesn't nerf the knife. With rebels suggestion of regen your timing of stabs is much more limited nerfing not only cloak but also the knife.

running out of cloak makes you semi transparent but you can still stab. M2 with no cloak puts you in the same state
semitransparent = 60% transparency?

Cloak limit shouldn't be a visibility meter but a time meter (how long you can stay invis).

With rebels suggestion of regen your timing of stabs is much more limited nerfing not only cloak but also the knife. That doesn't happen if you actually take your eyes off the other player for less than a second to look at your cloak meter. Or if, perhaps, with the additional health bar it also displays your cloak meter below it like I used to do with ammo, nuts&bolts, Ubercharge amount, Sniper charge, blade strength, just about everything.

The difference is that with the saboteur, the engie doesn't know his sentry is disabled. Then when your team arrives he'll and have to rebuild.

Call it the scrapper if anything
I don't like the idea of a scrapper too much though

The difference is that with the saboteur, the engie doesn't know his sentry is disabled. Then when your team arrives he'll and have to rebuild. L, Trogdor, Rommel, and I were discussing this several pages back. I think we came to the conclusion that, if spy can continue to move while placing a sapper (no cooldown, no startup), it's a good enough and won't require surprising the engie. If a sapper took as long as the backstab and became as obvious as one, then surprising the engie might be considered.

Sapper would definitely help in clearing out a sentry nest, as oppose to now where you have to choose your poison as to what to attack first. Also, it would help spies play more to the team, disable the sentry so your team can bust in. And as far as sapper removal, why can't the engie just shoot the sapper off?

I support tossing sappers with the taunt key when cloaked so you can choose to backstab the sentry and possibly kill the engie.

I think engie should kill the spy to remove the sapper.
