Spy stabbing - Current system: spy can stab through walls (orange stab, boxes), but sentries can't be stabbed in some cases. System where spy can always stab through walls: Same as now, only sentries can be stabbed. Improvement? Obvious yes.

I have never seen any game-shattering use of it. This is not something that will actually change anything. The work (for both the coder and the machine each time gg2 will run) is not necessary ---> waste. If the work is minimal, then add it and forget it. But again, I honestly never felt the need to make this disappear.

Plus it will make really cool kills through walls impossible (Panic) but that is nearly irrelevant in balance.

Huh? What about from the engies point of view? Huh?
I'm talking about the sentry placements which should be stabable, but aren't, like the ones on orange and ctf_dirtbowl.

Compare the situations where a spy camping a spot where he can't be hit is actually useful, to situations where a soldier camping a spot where he can't be hit and can still attack is useful.

I can only think of one spot in an official map where stabbing through a wall which is not a box is useful, and that's orange mid. But even then the only time someone would get hit by that stab is if they've got some crazy input lag and are running into walls. In matches without that kind of lag, no one walks close enough to the wall to get stabbed.

No one wants it as intentional feature, but it's already there and probably takes less code then the alternative(not sure though).
It never influences really anything ingame so why don't we just leave it alone.

I just don't like how the stabmask doesn't fit the sprite very well, but I'm just a picky modder so s'cool.

I kinda agree about leaving this alone, though. I mean, if it becomes a big, game-breaking problem, we already have a fix, right?

The current 'fix' just seems confusing, especially for people who don't know how it works. Why not keep things simple and just ignore the wallmask all together? There's no problem with stabbing through walls currently.

Do you mean mappers accidentally making places that spies can stab through? Well wouldn't it be easier for mappers if the spy could always stab through walls, rather than only sometimes due to the head thing? Then they can easily tell what places can be stabbed though and what can't, and can quickly fix it.

If your arm wouldn't logically go through a wall, then you should not be able to stab someone through that wall. End of discussion.
