Add a sapper so you can destroy a sentry without uncloaking. And if the engineer goes near his sentry, the sapper gets removed in few seconds.. And engineer should get a note when his sentry is getting sapped. w00t

I agree. We should add a sapper so you can destroy a sentry without uncloaked. Also, I'm not sure if anyone said this yet, but the engineer should be notified if his sentry is getting sapped. Also, the engineer should be able to remove the sentry somehow within a few seconds, preferably when he goes near his sentry.

Here's a random idea for funsies

Disguise as victim upon stabbing
Corpse disappears almost immediately
Stab animation does not play for enemies when disguised
Silent (or reduced sound) on successful stab


Disguise lost upon failstab or revolvershot
Stabbing sound louder upon failstab


This one I'm least sure about

Limited cloak
OR
Removal of passive invisibility

It's been said a few times. Disguises really do not work well. Hell, we shoot teamates now just incase there's an invisible spy. How bad d'ya think it'll get when the teammates themselves could be spies?

There's also the whole 'not fun for anyone involved' deal. Players have to divert attention to even more stuff, spies lose the ability to sneak around for better positions/backcap.

Well, it's like that with every class update; it's hard to have an alternate weapon be exciting and bearably predictable at the same time. I feel that most of the TF2 updates ignore this dilemma and move forward anyways.

But TF2 updates just add weapons, you're talking about completely changing the core mechanics of the class D:

Also also knife went in with minimal change. Instead of failspies standing two inches behind a heavy, unlocking and somehow missing with the revolver, now the stand two inches behind a heavy and miss with the knife!

I think it's scarcely possible to change the spy without changing the "core mechanics", although otherwise I guess you've cornered me.

Failspies missing with knife behind heavy? Grant passive invisibility when stabbing? I don't know  Crying

I think he's talking about an alternate weapon.

Although it seems a bit unnecessary because it would only be useful against snipers. Most stabs require the target to be moving towards you. For the unlock to be useful, the target also has to be in a group of allies. Problem is you can't stab the guy in the frog of the pack becUze the guys in the back will see him die, and you can't stab the guy in the back of the pack because the guys in front will see you start the stab. Sounds pretty situational.
