why do you abbreviate dkoth as dk and capitalize map names? It's inconsistent with everything else.

Some reasons I could come up with:
First, it's shorter, laconic is king.
Second, inconsistency may be intentional. Using caps or the nonstandard dk_ creates a server specific version of the map; it speeds up loading time on a popular map he edits that would otherwise have to be redownloaded every time someone joined the server after having played another.
Third, personal preference. Perhaps he just likes the look of a map name in caps, which is fine.

I abbreviate dkoth because when dkoth first came out I didn't know what it was supposed to be so I just put it as dk. And tiscoolers got the second answer.
