I'm not saying it's a bad item, I'm just saying I prefer my Ubersaw over it. And by "an item someone actually wants", I mean it's an item people are actually going to use for battle.

Why do people seem to prefer the ubersaw over the crossbow + amputator? The 15% increase in self-regeneration is huuuuuuuuge! And the area effect heal is nice too I guess.

Because one day I thought "hey the Huntsman isn't that useful" and decided to work on my Sniper Rifle aim. That got better (it's... decent now) and my Huntsman aim got a fuckton worse, which also applies to the Crossbow. And I love how with 4 or less hits I can have a full uber all ready to go. Without the Crossbow I personally think the Amputator is useless (I never use the radial heal ability).

Because crossbow. That thing is only really good on medieval. But I do like the amputator+laughing taunt.

The Amputator is a bonesaw with a gimmick that most people never use, and the crossbow requires good aim.
Most people never pull out their crossbow, because they're healing, so it's difficult to have good aim with a weapon you rarely use.

Why I don't use the Crossbow: -My arrow aim is terrible. -You could heal quicker with the Medigun than you can aim and shoot the person with the Crossbow. -The arrows can be reflected, while not probable, could happen and make it so you don't heal the person at all. -It doesn't fill your ubercharge when you heal someone with it.

Trevor, our team Medic, uses that combo whenever the Cevo config isn't active during a scrim and actually gets airshots with his crossbow at times.

It's my understanding that if you're being a good medic, you're primary role is to HEAL. And in order to heal, you need to live yourself. Medics shouldn't use their primary attack weapon unless absolutely necessary, which is a rare occurrence. Similarly, a medic will only seldom ever need to melee, and those that actively go to the front line with the uber saw to fill their gages are -bad- medics, since they're putting their own lives at risk.
To play a good medic you shouldn't worry about anything but your medigun, and keeping yourself alive to charge your uber. 15% increased regeneration out weighs all the other gimmicks to the other medic weapons because they all detract from the Medic's primary goal.

It's like you're implying that this is what I do. Which I don't. I use the Ubersaw to defend myself if I need to (my patient get injured and I can't heal them fast enough, so they die and I retreat back to the base to find a new Medibuddy).

LMAO, ubersawing works insanely well on symmetrical ctf maps, and ubersaw medic + brass beast heavy spawncamping duo is unstoppable for all eternity

Yes, but medic isn't built for combat. Any kills you get are either situational or simply an imbalance in skill, as any competent class should be able to realize they can kill a medic as long as they keep a bead on him. More regen means you have a higher chance of getting away in all situations as well as push forward and survive the flak better.
