Congratulations, guys! I am so happy that this little thing I hold so dear has made it so far.

Wait, what exactly are the changes?
Hey sup Thor.

Well it's pretty extensive but to cut a long reel short, there was a birthday bash.

they're removing quote and curly, making the ammo exactly like tf2, adding dispensers & teleporters, alt weapons, hats
and most importantly, it's going to be 3D

When will the laggy TCP-based netcode be replaced with a UDP-based solution?

(Edit: Serious, not trying to be rude. Switching to UDP would instantly improve lag many times over.)

Do you have any idea how long that'd take to re-write 2 years worth of code for networking just to switch protocols?

Why was TCP used in the first place?

The original netcode was completely dependend on everyone getting every update in the right order, because after the initial sync it only transmitted player input. If any update had been missed it would result in ever-groving desync. After the compo everything was very busy and I changed the netcode to the current concept which doesn't force such a tight sync, but much of the code still relies on the stability provided by TCP.
