That would be all fine and dandy, but there's 2 problems with that.

1. When has a moderator been too lazy to clean something up? It's their job to do that, and if they don't they should get the boot.

2. Moderators are supposed to be an unbiased 3rd party. Topic creators are biased. Having someone biased moderate their own thread would not be too good.
