At our school, there seems to be no such thing as "outcasts". There are the people that go smoke or accompany the smokers and talk, there are the computer/gaming freaks that gather in the school library to surf and talk, there are miscellaneous smaller groups (railway and train enthusiasts, for example) that talk, and simply the general group that goes eat something when they can (and talks) (as well as quite a few other groups that I'm not going to list here).

None of the groups hates or even despises the others, and as long as you're fine with being alone/being with only a few people, you won't get bothered.
I like it.

It gets harder when girls get involved though, because they often have certain prejudices. Tongue

PS: MLP is pretty much unknown here, and those who know it usually despise it (like me). So there aren't any gatherings of them afaik here.

My school's divided up into separate labs (Network Systems, Cosmetology, Culinary Arts, Welding, Auto Tech, and so on) so usually if you're an outcast so is the rest of that lab.

And that's basically my lab, seeing as half the people are fucking ponyfags or just flat out retarded. Only me and a few other people in the lab are actually mentally stable.

Well, I guess that's how it is in the high schools of civilised countrys (read: not the US).

In middle school however...

True, middle school is different. But it doesn't last that long either (3 years here).

This morning I discovered how difficult it is to edit something in Photoshop while two idiots yell memes and pound their fists on the end of the table that you're working on.

Oh and here, I made this for our assignment. We had to combine everything we were taught about Photoshop thus far. Namely setting opacity, cutting an object, and making it match the lighting.

Well actually I do have a few more days on the assignment, so I could tune up the shadows. The biggest offender is the shadow around the head when there clearly isn't a surface behind him. So this criticism is pretty great.

I read this thinking it was a reference to Theta's two really immature classmates before I clicked on the previous page. Haha.

And since I wandered into this thread somehow, I could offer some art tips.

The top of the forehead shouldn't be shiny, because the shininess comes from the reflected light. Since the reflected light is from above, the hat blocks it. The "highlight" shade should be a lot closer to the middle shade of the forehead. Also, for the shadow color, try sampling a darker shade of the skin's color, instead of using a black overlay. Shadows are rarely straight to black gradation, as they still contain some color saturation.

What you could try, is finding another reference image of an old man facing a similar angle, except with more matte lighting from above (less shininess on head). Then you could size it down, and sample that part for more accurate looking shadows.
