Fuck my computer. It keeps telling me 'no any devices exist' Even though both my hard drives are getting power AND are all connected. We just got it to turn on this weekend and I have no fucking clue what to do.

This is why having obscene amounts of harddrive space is nice.
I only have 4 gigs left on my OS drive, but that's because it's SSD. Most of my programs and games are on other drives.

Yeah, I have a 64gb one because thats all i could afford lol... I put my most used and slowest loading programs on there, which doesn't amount to much... Firefox and Photoshop are the only things with a noticeable speed difference. Being able to get into windows from a cold boot in 32 seconds is very, very nice though. 36 if you count the time it launches FF and loads my homepage... ...which, of course, has proven useless by the fact that I never shut down, only put it to sleep. |

Stand-by? It maybe isn't much you PC uses, but it stll drains some energy. Use hibernation. It's like Stand-by, except that it writes the content of the RAM inside Hiberfil.sys at the end and then shuts down completely. On the next start-up, it maybe takes a little longer than waking up from stand-by, but still is much faster than a regular boot. Also, you'll profit from the SSD some more. |
