skipping that, the more maxed I got the more I outdps'd unpotted dps classes and therefore the more pots I got as priest
got really easy
like easy to the point that I was getting more pots in ten minutes than I did unpotted in multiple hours

the chance for pot drop is significantly low enough that dps doesn't really play a factor until your later stages, it matters more how much you stay there actually trying to get pots and not nexusing, things with which maxing speed and def help immensely.  It also makes sprite world a super-cakewalk; I maxed def about an hour of grinding sprite world after maxing speed and dex.  Everything comes in time but it really all starts at surviving longer.

Dealing the most damage means you have a better chance of getting a drop. The drop itself is entirely random (i.e. a blue bag, a white bag or whatever). You also must be in range of the enemy when they die for you to get the drop, which is probably around the distance that Wizard projectiles fire (11+ squares).
