Haruhi wasn't bad. Neither was Lucky Star. Both seem more American than the "deeper" animes.

If you haven't already, all of you have to watch Gunbuster and then Diebuster.

BTW you have to watch them in that order to get the best results. You can only get some of the things in Diebuster (including the end) if you've watched Gunbuster.

What probably attracted me most to Baccano! was the nonlinear storytelling, which is something I absolutely loved.  I'd appreciate it if someone could suggest some other series that do this.  I've already seen Paranoia Agent (RIP Satoshi Kon) and Boogiepop Phantom.

baccano was a "deep and engaging" anime that spanned a grand total of 13 episodes. and i enjoyed it immensely more than a show about nothing or a 28296176872 episode show about hip and edgy mary-sue ninjas

your point?

Dude.... please watch Higurashi, there are 2 little school girls. The other characters are all older than you/your age. I get that you don't like that kawaii anime style; but don't badger on about how the anime is bad even though you never even watched it. Hearing about it and looking at a summery of it is much different than watching an anime. Also you should watch Death Note, that is another exception.

I can already tell you enjoy psychological, mystery and "logic" anime. There are plenty of those for your information.

Okay, so I thought I'd have a look at what else Liar Game's authour has done, and ended up finding a baseball manga.  I was wondering what the hell, but then I started reading it, and it centers around a pitcher who's basically Akiyama (actually closer to Akagi, I'd say, if you've read/watched that).  Liking it so far, and I don't even care about baseball.

Oh, I also want to recommend Zetman to you guys. It's a manga that i'd say is over halfway through. It's a seinen with a number of chapters showing girl's tits, but nothing more (so don't let your parents see it  hehe) and it's chock full of blood, gore, and badass action scenes.

The mangaka is someone you may recognise, Masakazu Katsura, who produced two somewhat popular manga. Video Girl Ai and I"s. (not that any of you have probably ever read either one) And he based the main character very loosely on Batman. You'd probably enjoy the manga if you enjoyed the best parts of the Naruto manga, Elfen Lied, or any of the more grimdark manga series.

At this point I'd also like to submit one picture of the main character transformed and in rage mode, to draw you into the awesomeness that is Zetman. (coincidentally it is also my new background image)

So in conclusion I'd like to say that this full length essay was submitted with your enjoyment factor considered, and my lack of any effort evident.

So I remember watching Cowboy Bebop when I was younger at someone's house, and thinking it was cool because of all the guns and fighting. Since then, my irl friends kept telling me that it's the equivalent of mana from heaven. I rewatched the series slowly over the last two weeks and started catchin the subtle symbols and themes.

It often deals with the idea of a waking dream, from characters who have suffered immensely and wish to "wake up" from their lives. The primary antagonist, instead of being a recurring villain that comes in every episode to taunt the main ensemble, is instead more of a concept than a threat, a driving force that ties together the otherwise mostly non-linear story. Characters develop gradually, with entire episodes dedicated to backstory, rather than being filled in for the viewer on a need-to-know basis.

And it has some sweet slide guitar and harmonica.

I heard it was an amazing anime, though I didn't really have the time and patience to watch such a large series before. I might pick it up after Inuyasha.

I'd read it now but I really don't need another manga that gets updated once in a while that's a ways away from ending.
