Why are you giving the winner of the loser bracket another shot at spot 1.

Double elimination was the most fair tourney system, or at least, the great majority of people voted for it.

The reason why I didn't do single elimination was because if...let's say, [NI] steamrolled SZP and it was the very first match of the tourney, SZP wouldn't get to play and would have to wait 2 months for the results. In other words; it's not very fun.

Edit: iDameon, I really hope you don't think single elimination is more fair. Because if we were doing single elimination you would be out of the tourney now and wouldn't get another chance to play.
Who gives a flying fuck about fair, this isn't about being fair.  This is about finding out who is the best clan of 2010.

Edit: It probably doesn't help that I'm completely biased against any form of Double Elimination tournament.

I would appreciate it if you didn't swear at me and instead made a reasonable and logical argument. Of course it's  being about fair. There's no point in finding out which is the best clan of 2010 if the tourney is so easily decided by luck.

Let me give you an example of why single elimination shouldn't be used.

In this alternate reality, let's say 'SS' wins against ]GS[ in round 1.
]GS[ is obviously better than....say, PK, but if PK beats KKK (two lower-tier clans playing against each other) then of course it's pointless if PK goes further in/has a better shot at winning simply because:

A) They were paired up against a much easier clan
B) Most of the hard clans were pitted against each other and beaten in the beginning rounds.

I did a poll a while back. Most people wanted double elimination. Majority wins.

Also, the last tourney (Feb. Tourney) was done in round-robin style, perhaps the most fair of all because each clan got to face each other and thus every matchup tested the true potential of each team.

Edit: Also Wolf is right. Were it not for scheduling/IRL conflicts, INS clan would easily win this tourney.

Double edit: And Airman raises a good point about subs.

And if shenanigans or other circumstances come around (like, oh, say, half the team being subs) and the team loses instead of winning, they're not the best clan even though half their team was subs?

I do want a rematch against 'SS'. I'm not convinced we're better than them after our match with them. It seemed like we were given it.

Whisky, before you get into semantics, I'm going to stem this.  Opinions are opinions.  You can't argue an opinion with semantics because it'll end up in a circle argument.

Alright. I was just saying that being fair does matter.

Also is it just me or does Wherewolf's avatar flip around every time I refresh?

I'd better get back to work on the reminders now.

TWEWY is still my second-favorite ds game.

...Come to think of it, I can't remember the last time I pirated a ds game. I think the last game I got was like Spirit Tracks or something. Lack of good games, coupled with the fact that nintendo seems to be churning out a new DS every year (NOW IN 3D, but who cares, it's a gimmick that will lose it's appeal fast) killed my support for it.

Erm, this may sound selfish but... Could TIC and NI go up first? I might have to leave around 5PM EST.

I can only make one or two rounds if we do though.

EDIT: Forget it, I'll just have to find a sub...

Be sure to get in the IRC at least half an hour early. Clan leaders, I would advise you to get in as soon as possible because if map-scratching is done early, there will be no confusion. Again, if your clan shows up with three or less members, you are auto-disqualified and the other team wins/moves on.
