Actually, in some games you can avoid a blue shell if you speed up at the exact moment it hits the ground. It's almost impossible with mini turbos, but it's quite a viable move with mushrooms. The only problem is actually finding one when you're in first place.

You can actually avoid a blue shell if you're koopa troopa with the bullet bike and use a mushroom, without needing to be precise.

I saw it in gif, so therefore it must work.

Well, IIRC whoever did this had hit the right moment to avoid the Blue Shell Of Doom. (qed)

Oddly enough I was getting single mushrooms while I was in first last night, so for future reference to anyone:

Shyguy
Standard Kart
Wooden Wheels
Flower Glider

I think it's a pretty dandy setup if you ask me.
I dunno if it'll help you since you unlock parts at random but all I know is with that setup I was getting Mushrooms maybe every 1/10 items?

The aimbotters are fun to go against. I don't care what anyone says.

The position is the only thing that matters in item retrieval, at least up until the wii game. Mushrooms can be obtained when in first place, but they're pretty rare.

Yeah, mk7 lets you get mushrooms in first place.

I didn't really feel like going around looking for it since no one bothers posting on it anyhow, besides we were having some minor wii related conversations earlier in the thread so I figured I could use this place instead.

There will be, if it becomes a series proper.
