After all my time playing Gang Garrison, I've noticed one thing. Ambushes are underpowered. Ambushes and surprise are supposed to be the most powerful things on the battlefield that almost guarantees the person ambushing will come out superior. But in Gang Garrison, people do not have blind spots unless there is an enemy spy behind them with passive invisibility. But apparently, giving everyone passive invisibility is not a good idea(I forget but I believe it was discussed before) so instead of passive invisibility, I suggest that we change the camera style so that players are on the edge of the screen in relation to the direction that their mouse is pointing, like how the sniper looks when he's scoped in and looking as far as possible. The sniper scope will also zoom in at farther ranges for more lethal sniping. This will incorporate people trying to flank the enemy and take out people from behind. This can also help the spy get chain stabs like they can in Team Fortress 2. But because it will be difficult to notice that someone is shooting you, we should have a red arrow pop up to indicate that someone is shooting you in the back. Is this a good idea? I thought this through to the best of my ability.

TL;DR: Change the camera position for the players so that players are on the edge of the screen

Infiltrator's passive invisibility make up for it, somewhat.

The only who can find a blind spot is Infiltrator, and he is not everyone's favorite.
And FoW can't be implemented because the game is Open Source, which makes it for anyone to create a hack to deactive FoW and make the system believe there's FoW.

I hope you know that this will mess up your aim big time in close combat since you suddenly flip from one side of the screen to the other.

I think that's what he wants.

I think he wants to re-create the feeling of disorientation when you turn around too quickly.

I think that's a stupid idea as well, I'm just guessing on what his intentions are.

Actually I just think he wants to create a possibility to ambush someone.

Which can also simply be modded out.

What makes ambushes so dangerous is that when you notice and try to react, you have a second of disorientation before you can counter.

Is it really worth it to mod it out? I mean, like modding it out would take quite some time and I think that time would be spent more on modders making an aimbot

I think the lack of ability to ambush people is more than made up by your ability to flank them. The opponent can only move in two directions most of the time, so coordinating an attack from both sides generally tends to help your chances of success, whether by surprise or not.

yes it would be worth modding out. almost every single general balance change that involves changes visual information can and will be circumvented.

No one does that though. This would motivate people to actually try and flank more

Okay, say that they bring the camera back to it's current position. They now have a better chance against ambushes but direct combat will not be as good because people with the new view can see as far as the sniper can see currently when scoped. That's 1 screen farther. It's not worth modding out in my opinion
