They're gonna have the classic controller pro. It's not quite a gamecube controller, but it's workable. Meh. The classic controller's xaby setup doesn't work as well as the GCN controller's button sizes and positioning for SSB's gameplay. The handles might not work too well given where the D-stick is placed on the controller. It's okay I guess, but I would much rather have access to an actual Gamecube controller, or at least a Wii-U version imitating its control setup.

Since Nintendo is marketing the Wii U as a "core gamer console", they might release a regular wireless controller with accelerometer and stuff inside, like a mix between the GC pad and the Wiimote.

We'll just have to wait and see I guess. I just don't imagine the classic control pro working as well as the GCN controller unless they made significant changes to SSB's core gameplay.

I always play Wiimote+nunchucks.
It's not even remotely difficult to get used to, you should feel lucky to have the GCN remote as an option tbh.

Wii peripherals are compatible with Wii u hardware. You'll be able to use the same classic controllers. Probably won't have gc ports though. i have bought nearly own every nintendo console and evry ssb/mario kart gaem i am contemplating wether or not to seriously buy the wii u and these games shoudl i buy the wii u y/n
Wait for e3 see what third party support is going to be like. It will probably par for course, as in there's going to be a ton of ports and multiplatform stuff. The real kicker is what the high end first party launch title is. It won't be a zelda game, because they always give it some time to let the install base settle in. Most likely will be another wii u sports title, but hopefully that will be a pack-in title anyways. A new Metroid or F-Zero would be mad nice, but unlikely. My advice would be to only get it if you have money saved up, or will get money saved up by the time it rolls out. Or ask for it for Christmas.

Something tells me that Pikmin 3 will have some new footage at E3 and that it'll be a launch title. There's also an announced untitled Mario game so that's possible too. Also, that New Super Mario Bros. Mii game they showed for the Wii-U last E3 is likely to be a launch title as well.

I hope they'll remake Metroid: Other M except use the resurrected corpse of Gunpei Yokoi as the lead storyboard producer.

Just give any malnourished Nintendo franchise to Retro Studios.

I always used the Gamecube controller because the Gamecube was the first video game console I got. However, the L button is jammed and the cover of the analog stick is ripped off. I'm going to have to buy 2 new ones. I was going to buy another one anyway because I didn't have a second one.
