Higher resolution for maximized windows and fullscreen mode. (I'm not really sure that this is a "Feature" though)

Right now, it's blurry, and the regular window is small. Maybe an option to set the resolution, since doing so automatically may cause problems.

just a cosmetic issue...

hehe

However, It's actually not a too bad idea to put in a set of resolutions, plus the options to put in custom ones, so the game actually renders the game in the higher resolution and don't just resizes the image. I'd love to have a set of filters as well, like Super Eagle, Fake-Scanlines and stuff, to give it a "Emulated (S)NES-Game"-feel, and a extended field of view for people with a 16:9 or 16:10-Screen.

Or at least just continuing the map itself, and the characters, bullets ect. fade in when they reach the part that is visible for "regular" screens.

It becomes no difference at that point from letterboxed mode other than the bars

What we should do is find out some kind of smart stretch feature like the Source engine has

I once made the game into a lower resolution. Getting everything right was a pain in the ass, just buy a smaller monitor, or if you're on a laptop, get a real computer.

I've got a widescreen monitor (1360-768), and the black borders on the sides bug me too.  I made a suggestion in IRC a while back that was:

Move the playable area of the game screen to either the far left, or the far right.  Then use the blank space on the other side of the screen to display stats, like those that are available by pressing the shift key.  You know, individual scores, people's names, etc.  Maybe even put some HUD elements over there too, to free up game window space and improve visibility.

Where have I seen something like this? Hm, I know that Resident Evil Degeneration for mobile device makes use of the top and low parts of the screen to display ammo, current items and health.
