Larry's Mod didn't actually start out as Larry's Mod. It started out as a project called Spy Vs Spy: Archangel. The game had a secret gravity gun built into it when you reached the end of the small demo. Now at the time, a game idea was flying around. One with a GMod feel, but with limited resources. Well, when I found out that Archangel was moving in a GMod direction, Elkondo and I split up, and I went to work on the GMod demake. I didn't agree with the limited resources, so I made them infinite. A lot of people enjoyed it, but asked for more tools. I granted that wish, but then came the cry for more props. I added a few more to keep them quiet. Then came the requests that I had been fearing the most: custom map support and multiplayer. Now LMod, at that time was coded in 'drag and drop', meaning it wasn't very powerful. Well, I couldn't do that, so I scavenged some code from GG2, and asked for someone to design Flatgrass and Construct. People were more than happy to oblige.

However, with the new maps came a problem, there was no code for slopes. I tried my hardest, but to no avail. Some people like Insanimania said to use the GG2 code for the ground. I told them that I couldn't make heads or tails of it, and plowed along. Eventually I gave up on that and started working on other things, such as player models. With KillPanzer's sprites on my side, the player models were done with ease. I started to look around for other things to do, maybe add weapons from GG2, since I had the HL2 guns put in already? Well, at this time, Fishmatt was making sprites for the reloading concepts people were having in GG2. So I took them, jokingly saying that I was stealing them. Jokes don't go so well on the Internet it seems. Fishy got mad and left, and we lost one of our best spriters because of me. Well, it's said 'Trouble sires three children', and that she does. After that fiasco, I started to lose focus on LMod, and soon after that I was grounded for the summer due to bad grades.

I believe many consider LMod the first victim and the start of my curse. To those who don't know of it, I tend to work on a project, be it sprites or code, and then that project fails. No one else is able to finish that project either it would seem. Many have fallen to my curse, such as: LMod, Gateway, Right 2 Live, Payload for GG2, CaveStory: Online, Protosian Legends, Partial Existance (most likely, they used my sprites). It really is quite sad for me, as I start these great projects, and I never finish them. But that's mostly in the past, which means that this history lesson is over. Any questions?

Codes for slopes, eh? If there is any way to code edge detections (similar to the ones for games like Sonic, where two dots in the lower corners of the hitbox detects the solid background. If one of them fails, Sonic enters into another animation to show he is on the edge of a platform), but having the system calculate the type of slope, then there might have a way to have it adjust to it.
