On generator mode, the autogin is seriously overpowered in terms of damage output. Adding insult to injury is the fact that as soon as the generator gametype springs up, the team makeup shifts to 3+ engys.
What I propose is that the generator is entirely untargetable by sentries. Now, this would be a blow to the engy, but the autogin could cover for him and his teammates by shooting players. This is to promote offensive engineering, but to disallow douchebag engineering.
All in favor, say aye.
But seriously discuss options.

Maybe they do less damage to the Generator?
But you can always put one down to defend you know, it works well that way

It has an extremely high rate of fire and doesn't need to reload.

Aye . Autogun is obviously OP in generator, especially if we start giving out points to people damaging the generator. Although... I wish that stabbing the generator was allowed... why is it not? it's only 220 HP

But in reality it's doing 42 damage per second, if we tone that down to maybe 30 dps, then maybe it's more managable. Remember that it'll always target the Generator first, so you can use that to your advantage to destroy it

It's also counterintuitive to everything we strive for as a community: Teamwork and Individual Skill. It's just m2 + 1 and z5.

Sorry,
but still 30 dps would be a huge nerf, but not allowing it to target at all is blaspmoney
what I meant is that you can hide behind the generator, and take out the autogun, an Autogun on defense can also easily overpower an autogun on offence anyways

It takes a while for an engie to actually get into a good generator attacking position, and it's damage output is an appropriate award. Still, I do agree with Chicken; it's overpowered and can whittle away a lot very quickly.
What if the Autogun had a reload system like the heavy's? It would muster 10 or 15 seconds of fire until running out, eventually forcing a slight overheat period (like the heavy). This would force the offensive engie to build less forward, otherwise the sentry is too vulnerable to enemy fire with the cooldown.

wouldn't this fall under a complaint specifically towards generator mode?
im changing the topic to reflect that
