Touchy, touchy. Work on that tempter, Dogs. Oh now your giving at least the illusion of an emotion other than gudge. It took me three hours to get these sprites to work, not to mention have of it was done using cave editor, which is still lost to me. Thank god for Sue's Workshop.

I read that pbms edited as bmps don't work because of an absence of (C)Pixel. How do I accurately put it back in there?
Oh, cool, a tech question that I can actually help on. There's two methods, and both require a hex editor. In case you don't have one, I recommend XVI32, a small and free yet versatile editor. First off, make sure you're saving the file correctly. CS bitmaps are always either monochrome, 16-color, or 256-color. This is obviously a pain in the ass when editing sprites, and they also completely screw up the colors in Windows 7. Open the .pbm you want to edit, and before changing anything, save it as a 24-bit .bmp and re-open it. This'll give you the full color spectrum, and allows you to edit it in any program of your choice (by default, only MSPaint recognizes a .pbm file). When you're done editing, save it and in the Save As window, leave it set to bitmap but change the extension to .pbm. Your program may name it (file).pbm.bmp, in this case just remove the .bmp. Got all that? Now you can go on to the hex edit. This is where the two methods are. The first one is opening the edited file in the editor and manually appending the (C)Pixel to the file. However this is stupid, gets removed with the next edit, so we're gonna take the second route... ...which is modifying the doukutsu.exe to altogether remove the copyright check. This is the better method as not only is it a do-it-and-forget-it method, but it removes the check for all related files- sprites, maps, scripts, etc. Eventually I got tired of typing the removal every time someone brought up this question so I made a handy image. >read other threads >find five-minute hack >derrrp

Saying that isn't going to make it all better. Well maybe if you had checked around beforehand, you wouldn't be shooting yourself in the foot and hoping for a Purple Heart now. I mean, hell, a simple Google search probably would have sufficed, the issue pops up often enough over at Mirai. why is this in gg2 custom sprites
okay that's a poor excuse because our q/c sprites are mediocre imitations of the originals

I not asking for some praise or like of any sort from you or anyone, but you just came in and told me three hours of work is worth nothing, like I was singulary showing it to you, hell, I thought you weren't even on today.

So... Your implying I recolored quote's sprite with only miniscule changes? ...how are you getting that from me making a joke about Megaman sprite recolors, a somewhat old recurring forum joke? Also, I'll admit myself: It's rather hard for us normal not godly incredible spriters to edit a CS sprite and not have it look somewhat like the original. Teeny tiny framerects are a bitch.

How did I miss this? First of all Doggie Boy, you posted those Cave Story recolors in the wrong thread. This is for GG2 custom sprites. Your sprites that you "edited" are from Cave Story; they have absolutely nothing to do with Gang Garrison 2. A cameo appearance from Q/C doesn't count. Either post it in your own thread, or put it in this thread. Secondly, Speed of Dark you need to back off a little because you're essentially baiting someone whom you know posted in the wrong thread in the first place. And finally, this thread is not for complaining about your personal feelings. If you'd like to do that, go start a thread in GC (so it can get locked), or perhaps GGGD (apparently not that hard to bait "veteran members" into starting a 13 page spam fest). For future reference, custom GG2 sprites include: - edits/recolors of existing GG2 sprites (if you're a lazy motherfucker) - original sprites that are usable in GG2 mods, that take into account bounding boxes and whatnot - original taunts, buildings, projectiles, weapons, hats - HUD sprites that are usable in GG2 mods - title screen backgrounds - pretty much anything you can find in the sprite folder within the source, other than maps/entities
