Well, that didn't really work out as planned, but who's surprised.
So here's what I learned, people think S-Z, NAGN, and 'Sani would probably make good mods, they think ASDF and Spud deserve it but might not do a good job, Rock is the only one who thinks he deserves the job, and Acidlead is totally batshit insane.
And here's the plan. No moderator for this section and no new topics.
For the time being this section will behave in a similar manner to forum gems. All new topics about games will begin their lives in General Chatter, if they are deemed not-spam, survive a few page, and actually seem to be getting use, they will be moved to this section by one of the General Chatter mods or myself.
If this isn't working out (all the threads are completely offtopic or no one is posting in the section) I will perhaps talk to some of our nominees about stepping in, but the more I think about it, the less it seems like a good idea to appoint a mod before it's really necessary.
Good for you fredman. Acidlead is totally batshit insane. Heh heh. Totally not my plan. |

Yeah, sounds good! The only thing is what happens if shitstorm/excessive spam happens? Would you or another admin step in and lock it? Or would you then appoint a mod?

well, whatever happens it would be considerably smaller than if it was a regular forum. at most i'd say it'd really need one mod, but nothing has happened yet so the future looks prosperous, especially because video game threads never seem to derail a lot

I think video game threads only derail slightly compared to general threads.
TF2 discussion might move to computers, MGS4 might move to NO GAEMS, but it's not like a religion thread becoming about dinosaur pirates.

A low mod postition limited to moving/locking/removing threads and deleting shitstorms.
How does that sound? Then move a few more GC threads over and open up the board.

Why give a mod position that loses the ability to edit/delete/merge/split posts with the name "Editor" if they cannot edit posts? |
