Oooooooooooooh boy.

I recently played some versus with aptanor and others, and we were playing a modification of no mercy for l4d2. Sometimes we let the randomizer choose the teams, and my team happened to be a little overpowered. We had a strong lead up until the third chapter, where both of our teams got tanks and random hordes all at once. Although when it was our team's turn, I just ran away when our team was dying. 2 of us were already dead, the other bot is alive and would make good bait. I started the cresendo and ran across the roofside, occasionally looking back for that jockey I heard. That and any random SIs were the only real trouble since once 2 of us were dead the tank died. Crzy was telling me to run as well, and by that point I was starting to run through the building afterwards while the bot was being killed by a charger.

Upon running through the building I saw a charger chasing me, and the jockey seemed to be catching up as well, so I threw a molly behind me. It ended up setting just the charger and a smoker on fire, but I ended up killing the charger with my shotgun anyway. After going through the warehouse portion into the area right before the sewers, I noticed there weren't many infected. I assumed while I was running that it was since they were all behind me in the level. After traversing through the sewers a little on my way to the ladder to the surface, I noticed the infected started respawning. And I saw a boomer try to puke on me but miss, so I threw my pipe I found earlier in the sewers so get rid of the current infected.

When I reached the top of the ladder, I saw the entire top side was almost filled with commons. I was able to run torwards the safehouse for a few seconds undetected, as it now seemed to scream at me "YOU ARE SO CLOSE". Although, after those few seconds were up they all started running at me. I only had unreloaded double pistols, so I had to stick with my shotgun and shot whatever I could. At this point I was nearly next to the ambulance right outside the building door, constantly shoving back commons trying to get to the saferoom. Inbetween the heads of some infected I saw a jockey coming straight at me. I couldn't do much since I had already used up all of me shoves and trying to shoot it would be blocked by the commons. As I inched slightly closer to the entrance, the jockey landed on me.

I proceeded to right after say NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO into the chat.

Then, a gleam of hope arose.

As I stood there being killed by the jockey and the many commons, my health currently being around 20-30 health, I saw in the kill log that Archer had killed the jockey. I was slightly confused for a second, then remembered there's a glitch where a infected can accidentally scratch the jockey on his victim and instantly kill the jockey. I then continued to inch my way torwards the safe room, now at the counter right in front of it. I tried to crouch jump over but missed, possibly because my hands were slightly trembling from being so close to the door yet having 10 health. I then made one last shove to the commons, and managed to jump over the counter successfully. With a few last jabs at my back, I make it into the safe room with 4 health. I then giggled like a little school girl.

Yay?

More like 3/4ths of the map.

Points aside, I would have had no different reaction if it was in campaign or anything like that.

Well, ok, but, the main point modifier is how many people live. That's the most important part really.
Then again I'm not impressed by that stuff anymore after seeing so many people/myself do crazy shit.

It was actually 3/4th's of the map, along with 400 extra points with the distance he traveled.

Uh, I know. He said that it was 3/4th.
The main point advantage is still from survivors and health.
I'll be damned if 400+ points is enough to really matter on a 3rd map. I can imagine it being a turn around on the 4th or finale, but, there's still the possibility the whole match could flip around in those next maps.

Truthfully though, I'm looking at the wiki. I may be confusing L4D2's versus with L4D1, because L4D1 seems more familiar than what is said about L4D2. There's no way in L4D1 you'd get 400 points for going all the way in a map by yourself, that'd only be 100 points for 100%. I've played versus in L4D1 oh so much more than L4D2, to the point I have all the good SI spots and map layouts implanted into my brain.

Yeah L4D2 only gives 25 extra points per survivor, its the distance that matters in 2.

The l4d2 scoring system kinda sucks. But to be honest all the matches I've played always ended up with someone winning each round. No ties.

I like the L4D2 scoring system, oen of the few things I prefer about the game.  Versus is about rationing and sticking together but speed is only of average importance.  In l4D2 you just heal and run, and you'll do well.  it's more intense and faster.  I like it more.
