So, I don't suppose anyone's heard of a Dingoo before?  It's some Chinese handheld gaming thing that can ran emulators for a bunch of old systems.  Thinking of getting one; it sounds kinda sketchy, but I'm seeing people say some good things about it when I do a bit of research.  Biggest criticism seems to be that the onboard emulators suck, but fans have put together a version of Linux for it that can run better ones, and I'm pretty sure I can figure out how to get that working.

It'd cost me about $80, which is great if it does what Wikipedia says it does.  Anyone know otherwise, or have any alternatives they could suggest?  I'd love to play old SNES RPGs on the bus, among other things.

If you have an Android phone there are a bunch of emulators you can buy off of the app store, nes, snes, genesis, and gameboy I know for sure. They're about 3-4 dollars each (loading roms to the phone from your computer is free of course) and my brother uses them, says they're good and work well.

My NES came thursday, I've been playing it nonstop. Since it was late due to ome parts not coming in (the guy refurbishes them) he sent me a second controller and is getting me an Advantage controller whenever he finds one

Think I'll order the Dingoo tonight.  The GP2X and Android sound nice and all, but the Dingoo has the additional feature of having an extremely stupid name.

So after a bunch of games and some tinkering I think I have this new 72-pin broken in. I didn't think the Contra cart I had worked, but I just stuck it back in (and moved it about a bit) and got it up z6

the default snes emulator has a problem with not allowing x and y from being pushed at the same time iirc

Yeah, I'm aware the native emulators have problems.  I understand you can install Linux and use better ones, though.

I got trolled by Kid Icarus, due to my lack of skill. The farthest I've gotten is the stage after the first dungeon.

Then I used Sacred Words to get to the Medusa Fight, but I ragequitted because I was stuck on a scrolling screen of repeats. Icarus how does he work z4

Dingoo arrived yesterday; haven't messed around with setting up emulators on it yet, but it looks like a neat little thing (aside from the microphone jack being poorly placed).

Comes with some creepy, badly translated survival horror game called 7 Days Salvation.  You're a horror writer who's trapped in his villa and crazy stuff starts happening.  Played a bit on the bus to work; last part I saw had me waking up in the kitchen, being very hungry and finding only a hunk of raw meat that I need to go the the bathroom to wash because the kitchen had no water, and then some sort of legless zombie started crawling down the mirror behind the sink; you run, and the meat is gone when you go back in.  And then you have to hide from some giant hulking brute that starts chasing you (your character remarks that he looks 'rude').

Anyway, gonna figure this Dingux thing out tonight so I can install emulators and play some SNES RPGs on it.  Think I'll start with Live-A-Live, since it was awesome and quirky and I never finished it.
