Making a billion files of the same song isn't going to make the file size smaller.

Unless the files are mp3 files, then I'm not too sure where you're going.

Wav files can still be decent and have a tiny file size (e.g. GG2's music)

I just need to figure out how to compress it without making it sound like shit
The background music doesn't need to have any alterations, it can be an MP3 and run fine.
The other music clips can be only a few seconds long and made as looped wav files since these will need to be varried volume-wise.

Wait what

no I can make it louder and softer in software if it's a Wav file.

Mp3's the only format that's severely limited.

The only other song I can think of is the Jazzy song from the radio, there's no other music in the game

That's what I just said. You don't need to alter the volume on the main background music so that can be an mp3, small file no harm done.

The radio song and ERNIAC sounds need to have edited volume though so they need to be wavs.

My only gripe is that Midis don't sound NES like at all.

I found this WAV for the radio. If you can convert it to sound like a chiptune, it'll work.

And found this as well. I'm checking the quality of the MIDI now.

He most likely used a program to convert MIDI to MP3/WAV with emulated chiptune or something.

Seems I found out how to simulate ADSR Envelope in MIDI Maestro. Isn't top quality, though.
