Rules for Feature Requests!

Rule 1. This is not a dumping ground for your random gameplay thoughts. Don't just post the first thing that comes to your mind. Actually put some effort and thought into your post. I don't care if you request dispensers or medkits or ammunition or something oft requested as long as you stimulate real discussion. You are responsible for the fate of your own thread. Don't think that you can just put a random gameplay thought out there and hope that someone else picks up the discussion.
Rule 2. One-liners/one-word responses/spam is not tolerated.
Note from Wareya: Until Techno is an active moderator again, I will permit relevant deconstructive oneliners/short responses/unexplained opinions so long as you're prepared to either retract your statement, or at least back it up if nobody does so for you, in the case that people are upset about your one-liner/one-word response. Constructive opinions are absolutely allowed. Spam is absolutely not tolerated.
Rule 3. Keep the flaming out of this board.
Rule 4. Use common sense. If you have been playing this game for 1 day, don't post about what changes you think would be amazing. If you didn't know how much damage a needle did until 3 hours ago, don't post a list of buffs for the medic. If you think your post is probably going to piss off me or Psychopath, don't post.
Rule 5. Only necrobump a topic if you have additional, useful content or insights into that topic.

Rules update for forumgoers!

Rule 6: I don't give a shit if something has been requested before. Treat new players with respect, and treat requested features with the respect due to them. *sigh*, "no more noobs", and the like will be deleted.
Rule 7: Me and Psycho can do our job. Don't tell people what and what not to post.
Rule 8: You aren't witty. Keep the silly off-topic jokes out of the section so people don't have to read through it to get to the important posts of the topic. EXAMPLE: if you feel like you need to prepend/append  or something similar to your post, im going to delete it.

Rules update regarding content:

Rule 9: While it may seem appealing to post multiple ideas in the main post, please refrain from doing so. This only complicates things for everyone involved; it makes keeping track of discussion about specific ideas more difficult and it decreases the likelihood of any single idea from getting as much exposure as it would had it been isolated on its own. I will lock any thread that does this, however, I will highlight the specific ideas that would still be exceptional as a thread of their own (because I'm nice that way). The only exception to this rule is if the feature suggestions are closely interlinked with one another or, at the very least, related to one another.
Rule 10: If you are going to be posting a 'megathread' of sorts (one that is an exception to the above rule), format it such that it is readable. If you are jumping all over the place, don't expect me to reorganize your original post for you. However, if English is not your first language, I am willing to cooperate with you if you contact me via PM.

They're pemissable, but not valid argumentation points. Polls will not be acknowledged as evidence in an argument, so it's best to avoid them unless you know what you're doing.

Just for clarification:
- Posting new threads for requests that are in "active" development or conversation is frowned upon. Bump the old thread instead. Doing so without contributing anything ("Why don't we have X yet?") will cause your thread (and subsequent ones) to be locked on sight. That's unless you were posting in the old thread, where you'll just be scorned, I guess.
- Polls are allowed (provided the thread is a real FR otherwise), but they Don't Mean Anything to the devs. Keep that in mind when you want to make a poll about sniper's scoping mechanics here instead of GGGD.

These aren't new rules, just clarification on specific cases of existing ones.

Another clarification: Bugfixes aren't features. Don't post "feature requests" where the feature is a bugfix. Bugs don't belong here. Post in developer discussion or report the bug.

Note that seeming feature requests that happen to actually be bugfixes are an exception to this.

Thread hijacks are not allowed.
I've been enforcing this for a long time because thread hijacks violate the operational order of the board, and they violate the writ and spirit of other, different, forum rules. Adding this rule is just making my existing convention part of the explicit writ. I'll be treating this the same way as before, but now I'll have a shiny new post to point people to.

Notes:
- Taking from an OP's "problem", that is whatever thing their request is meant to solve, and giving an alternate solution to that problem, can be either allowed or forbidden based on context, attitude, and moderator judgment. You will not be punished for violating in this way unless you persist with it.
- Coming up with new, similar problems to the OP's problem, and either promoting them or coming up with solutions to those alternate problems, is forbidden in that thread. Make your own damn thread.

TL;DR: Trying to help OP? Probably allowed. Giving an alternate suggestion? Up to the moderators. Coming up with something new that fixes another problem? Forbidden.
