Author Topic: How do I host with my own map in the rotation?  (Read 946 times)

Ok so I have my map completed with a locator file and stuff. It just decideds to not put my own map in the map rotation. I made the rotation.txt with my map name in it and I have my map in the maps folder with the locator file and I changed my gg2.ini so that the map selection is rotation.txt but when I host my server I am still going to true fort wtf is going on?

Also heres the map It's ctf black snow

Assume your map name is ctf_blacksnow.

1) Both ctf_blacksnow.PNG and ctf_blacksnow.locator is inside the MAPS folder.
2) gg2.ini > MapRotation=rotation.txt
3) In rotation.txt, input ctf_blacksnow ONLY. If you want more maps, hit ENTER and paste the map name into it.

Possible mistake you made
rotation.txt should be in the same folder as gg2.ini.

did all that still isnt working I think its just something to do with hosting. If i absolutely need to use port forwarding then I'm not hosting because I have no idea what I'm doing with that stuff. So if I can get my map to be hosted by other people somehow that would be sweet.

No, if you just want to play it with yourself, you don't have to port forward nor having a locator file.
How about you trying this all over again. I never had any problem with map hosting at all.

Or you had the maps in a folder inside maps folder. Or typo error. idk.

Is there a way that I can get other people to host my map? Someone like you maybe or Agh you wouldn't have to tell anyone its your map if they say its crappy. I think its good and I want to play it I just don't want redo everything for about the 5th time only to have it not work... again. So I'd appreciate it iff someone else hosted it and just sort of threw it into thier map rotation.

yes I have play tested it as well using the admin version of gg2 even though I should be able  to host with that I cant because of my router. The volcanoe has kill boxes in it so that you cant just rush over it with scouts you have to get the jump right. Also there are two secret areas for spies to hide in so that pyros and heavies cant just spycheck them to death because there is a chance that a spy might be in that area. very tough to find though so its worth being there. It is compiled and ready to play though.

Was it compiled it Garrison Builder? As in did you click the "Embed Level data in PNG" button.

Well, I can't really help, but it's a cool looking map.
The only problem might be there are too many narrow hallways.

Now, don't get me wrong, it's an awesome map! Just keep in mind when you make your next one that vertical space is just as important as horizontal space to many classes.
