Its just 2d fort with some thing on the bridge, you can spawn stuff, and you have a glitchy scattergun that can get you through the wallmask.

That was the first released version they were planning to do, I'm sure they had everything all playtested.
However, valve didn't think it was good quality, so they completely remaked it, delaying the release by about two years
